Havas Media Network UK

Michael Phillips

In 2024, HMN UK's Corporate Communications Team, led by Head of Comms Michael Phillips and supported by Comms Manager Jessica Porter, has supercharged the business’s reputation. Since Michael’s arrival in 2022, the business shifted from reactive PR to a proactive, long-term storytelling strategy focusing on the company, clients, and people. This year, the results have paid off, with clients, employees, and the industry now having a strong understanding of HMN UK through a quality-first approach that has built a dominant share of voice.

In 2024, HMN UK generated 394 media outputs, including 241 tier-one placements—more than double previous years. This success raised the profiles of 35 tier-one clients, such as EE and Matalan, and extended media reach into new publications like Retail Week and the BBC. The team’s integrated approach strengthened internal engagement and influenced key pitches, including Ocado. The year saw major achievements, including securing six people awards and its first ‘seven’ in four years in school reports. Beyond commercial success, the Team demonstrate that comms can be a force for good within/beyond the industry, with Michael supporting various initiatives including Trans+ History Week and founding/co-chairing disability network Havas Adapt, and Jess on the Women of Havas ERG.
